Mirror Tam

What does Aime Cesaire’s poem, Night Tom-Tom, mean to you?
I want to make this poem “public” because it really moved me. Originally written in French, Tam-tam de nuit, was one of Cesaire’s earlier poems. Clayton Eshleman and Annette Smith published this translation:
file of okapis easily in tears the river with fleshy fingers
searches in the hair of stones a thousand moons mirrors revolving
a thousand diamond bites a thousand prayerless tongues
a fever loopings of a hidden violin bow towed by stone hands
tickling the shade of dreams plunged into the simulacra of the sea
Please email your feedback to feedback@stoneridge.org. Thank you.

It is truly amazing, fantastic, fantabulous, cool, brilliant, outstanding, tremendous, beautiful, NO WORD’s. I think you should submit it to a newspaper and they’ll print it for you if they like it.
